How To Carefully Remove A Tick From Your Body

If you have discovered that you have a tick on your body and it has already bitten you and begun to bury its head in your flesh, you will want to try to remove it as soon as possible. However, you need to be careful when doing this by making use of the following advice.

Use A Pair Of Tweezers

The best tool to use for removing a tick is a pair of tweezers that you can get a firm grip on. If you do not have any tweezers and cannot quickly get someone to go buy some for you, you can use your hands. However, if you are using your hands, you will want to make sure that you are wearing a pair of gloves, such as medical or cleaning gloves. This is because you do not want to risk having any infected blood and other fluids from within the tick getting on you if you accidentally break its stomach open.

Pull At The Head Of The Tick

It is important to make sure that you are pulling on the tick by its head, or as close to it as you can get. Otherwise, if you simply pull on the body, there is a very good chance that the head will detach from the body. Then, while the body of the tick may no longer be on you, the head will remain inside of you. At that point, you will need to go to the emergency room so they can cut the head out, if they are not able to remove it by any other means. As you pull the tick out of your skin, you will want to refrain from twisting or turning it. Pull it straight up and out.

Save The Tick

Should you have any worries that this may be a tick that carries Lyme disease, you will want to save it so it can be identified by a professional, such as your doctor. To save the tick, you will want to place it inside of a small plastic bag and then place it inside of your freezer until you are able to talk with someone. If you do not want to save it, you can flush it down the toilet.

Should you find that you are unable to remove the tick on your own, it is best to get in touch with a medical professional who can. You do not want to accidentally pull off the body of the tick and leave its head buried in your flesh, as this could lead to an infection. If you're worried about more ticks on your property, contact a tick control professional at a company like Environmental Services Pest Control for assistance.

About Me

Energy Science Fiction And Real Energy Science

My name is Joe Simmons. In many stories set in the future, machines seem to have little or no need for energy. Massive flying machines seem to have tapped into some new, revolutionary energy technology that allows them to float around magically. I have always found this aspect of futuristic story-telling to be fascinating and I wonder what the next energy source will be. Will it be hydrogen? Will it be fusion? Because of my fascination with all things related to energy, I have been researching the topic and i have decided to create a blog devoted to the subject.
